Vehicle Crimes In Bloomfield: Car Theft, Stolen Catalytic Converters
Several vehicle crimes were reported in Bloomfield, including a stolen car, catalytic converter thefts and a car burglary, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several vehicle-related crimes were reported in Bloomfield last week, including a stolen car, catalytic converter thefts and a car burglary, authorities said Wednesday.
A car owner reported a vehicle theft on Sept. 7 at police headquarters. It took place in the area of North 15th Street and Chester Avenue, according to the Bloomfield Police Department.

“The complainant left her vehicle running and unlocked and then observed an unknown vehicle pull up next to it. The passenger exited and entered her vehicle and fled the scene. The vehicle, a silver 2017 Toyota Rav4, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Other vehicle-related crimes reported in the township last week include:
Sept. 4 – “Officers responded to the area of Montgomery Street on report of a catalytic converter theft. A resident heard a drilling sound down the street and then observed a white van or SUV double parked near a neighbor’s vehicle. Officers then looked underneath the vehicle and noticed that the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.”

Sept. 7 – “A complainant responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a catalytic converter theft from the 200-block of Bloomfield Avenue. The complainant heard his car alarm sounding and when he went out approximately 30 minutes later, he noticed the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.”
Sept. 8 – “A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a theft from auto from the area of North 15th Street and Chester Avenue. The resident parked his vehicle on the street and when he returned, he noticed a weed whacker was missing from his pickup truck. This incident is under investigation.”
