‘Very Shy’ And Scared Dog Rescued From Bloomfield River

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — First responders in Bloomfield recently came to the aid of a stray dog who was found in the Second River.

Bloomfield Police ESU and animal control officers responded to a call about a stray dog in the river around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the Bloomfield Animal Shelter reported.

“The dog was safely removed from the river behind 185 Newark Avenue and 8 Pine Street and brought to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter,” staff said. “The dog appears to be a young, intact adult male, no collar/chip/tags, very shy and scared.”

Anyone who recognizes the dog can contact the Bloomfield Animal Shelter between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 973-748-0194, or the Bloomfield Police Department at 973-680-4141. Proof of ownership is required to reclaim him.
