BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Brooklyn comedian’s act at a New Jersey restaurant and bar was cut short when a gunman began spraying the area with bullets, according to a recently posted video on her Facebook page.
Toni Byrd wrote that she was in the middle of her Nov. 2 headlining performance at Sports in the City Food & Lounge in Bloomfield when the bullets started flying.
“All praises due to God,” Byrd wrote. “I was headlining comedy show tonight in Bloomfield NJ. And bullets started flying. I mean they shot the spot up… I'm so grateful because a few bullets passed by me. I was able to get on the floor and make it in the back room. My homie Nicole KatSkates came out to the show. I'm so grateful that she didn't get hit. After the smoke cleared I was looking for her and she was nursing the wounded. I found a new level of respect for her, She is the true definition of a lady with compassion for others! We are so grateful because it could have turn out a different way!”

The six people were hospitalized, with two having life-threatening conditions, according to reports.
The shooting occurred at Sports in the City Food & Lounge at 3 First Ave. on Friday just before midnight in Bloomfield, according to The Record.
“Six victims were shot and transported to University Hospital. No arrests have been made at this time,” Ralph Marotti of the Bloomfield Police Department told The Record.
Two women suffered non-life threatening graze wounds, according to RLS Media.
A female eyewitness who was inside the bar told RLS Media: "People were running and crawling on the floor in fear of their lives"
"This wasn't a drive-by, they just stood there outside shooting the place up," according to a witness.
"I come here all the time and would have never expected this; I guess there's just no good places to go anymore," a witness told RLS. "We heard the first shot, but we weren't too sure, but then the glass started shattering and people started falling from being hit by gunfire."
Three different guns were used in the shooting, according to shell casings from the scene, but police did not know how many shots were fired, according to nj.com. Nearby residents said they heard eight or nine loud pops.
"I thought it was fireworks," Marcia Pires, who lives catty-corner from the bar, told nj.com. She said the block had been closed with more than 20 police cars at the intersection.
About 30 people were in the sports bar for a party when the gunmen started shooting and "riddled" the place with bullets, according to reports. A gunman was last seen fleeing across the Newark border.
The Essex County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for any information about the shooting that leads to an arrest. Residents can call 973-680-4090 with information.
