Wave Of Burglaries Reported In Bloomfield (See Locations)

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A series of burglaries and attempted burglaries were recently reported in Bloomfield, authorities announced Thursday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident:

Aug. 28 – “Officers responded to the 300-block of West Passaic Avenue on report of a burglary. A resident left his home at 1:35 p.m. and when he returned at 3 p.m., he noticed the rear kitchen window open. When he entered the residence, he then noticed that a table in the den was moved and a drawer was open on the end table. All of the upstairs drawers were also ransacked. There was nothing reported missing at this time. This incident is under investigation.”

Aug. 30 – “Officers responded to the area of Yantecaw Avenue on report of a burglary. A resident heard two knocks while he was sleeping and when he went downstairs, he noticed the screen on the side window was open. Surveillance video shows the suspects moving around the rear of the house after gaining entry through a sliding door. This incident is under investigation.”

Aug. 30 – “Officers responded to the area of Wilbur Terrace on report of a burglary. A resident noticed a window screen, window and back door open at his residence. He then noticed that his car keys and vehicle were also missing. A black crowbar and scissors were located near the back window. The incident occurred sometime during the overnight hours. The vehicle, a gray 2024 Audi Q8, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Aug. 30 – Officers responded to the area of Overlook Terrace on report of an attempted burglary. According to a resident, at approximately 5:30 a.m., unknown individual(s) attempted to gain entry into her home through the side windows and rear door. The window screens were pushed up and there was damage to the rear door. No entry was made and there were no items missing from the residence. This incident is under investigation.”

Aug. 30 – “Officers responded to the area of George Street on report of an attempted burglary. According to surveillance footage, at 5:41 a.m., two males attempted to gain entry into a home through multiple windows using a crowbar. This incident is under investigation.”
