Wedding Rings Stolen From Bloomfield Bedroom: Police

A man who fraudulently claimed to be from the water company stole two gold wedding bands from a Bloomfield home, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A man who fraudulently claimed to be from the water company recently stole two gold wedding bands from a Bloomfield home, authorities said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, an officer responded to an Elizabeth Court home after receiving a report of a burglary on Oct. 25. The victim said that an unknown man entered his home, claiming to be “working with a water company.”

Eventually, the homeowner realized the man wasn’t really from the water company and asked him to leave, police said.

The homeowner told police that three rings were missing from the home: two gold wedding bands with two red rubies and a diamond in the middle, and a gold-plated pinky ring with two red rubies and a diamond in the middle.

The rings – taken from the master bedroom – were valued at $500, police said.

The victim described the suspect as a white male wearing a gray jacket, black hat and gloves, police said. No further information was immediately available.
