West Orange Adoptable Pet of the Week: Cookie

Cookie is named for her sweet disposition and Tan/Brown coloring that reminds us of chocolate chip cookies. A kindly gentleman found this little Toll House Cookie girl wandering around. Afraid she would be hit by a car, and certain there must be someone looking for her, he scooped her up and made sure she made it safely to the West Orange animal shelter. She has settled in at the shelter, but definitely prefers being with people to being in the safety of her cage. She loves being in the office, and especially enjoys all the treats she gets while she explores. She is definitely a lap dog.

Shelter volunteers are unsure of Cookie’s breed—perhaps she is a long-hair Dachshund, a Dachshund mixed with a Wirehair Terrier or maybe even a Dachshund mixed with a Yorkie. Either way, she is a true sweetheart, inside and out.

The vet has estimated Cookie to be approximately two years old, and her weight is 18.8 lbs. Her Heartworm/Lyme and Fecal/Giardia tests were negative. Her Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations have been updated and she has been spayed. Precautionary Bravecto was applied against any fleas/ticks, etc. The vet noted that Cookie has an ear infection, which is currently being treated with medication.

• The first and third Saturday of each month (excepting holidays)
• The shelter is open Monday–Friday 4:30pm–5:30pm (excepting holidays)
