‘Yes, We Can Change the World’: Bloomfield Activist To Hold Event
Longtime activist Ted Glick will be hosting a performance that combines singing, poetry and book readings this week in Bloomfield.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A longtime activist from Essex County will be hosting a performance that combines singing, poetry and book readings this week in Bloomfield.
Ted Glick – a progressive activist and organizer who has fought against war and climate change, among other causes – will be holding his multi-arts event at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Brookdale Reformed Church, 16 Bellevue Avenue.
“I’ve never, ever done anything like this,” Glick said. “But at the age of 74, I’m doing so now because I think this performance will be interesting, thought-provoking and hopefully inspiring so that we can all do a better job of world-changing.”

After Glick retired in 2015, he wrote and published two books, “Burglar for Peace: Lessons Learned in the Catholic Left’s Resistance to the Vietnam War,” and “21st Century Revolution: Through Higher Love, Racial Justice and Democratic Cooperation.”
He also became more active with the New Jersey singing group, the Solidarity Singers, and started to attend and sing hymns at Brookdale Reformed Church (which recently installed solar panels on its roof) in his hometown of Bloomfield.

Glick said his performance on Nov. 16 will combine all of those things: six songs, two poems and short readings from the two books, which will be available for purchase.
Light refreshments will be served, and donations will be accepted. RSVP by email to indpol@igc.org or text 973-460-1458.
