2 Jeeps Overturn In Crash That Snarled Parkway In Brick

The crash that happened at 6:41 a.m. caused a 5-mile backup from Brick into Toms River, authorities said.

BRICK, NJ — Two Jeeps overturned in a crash that caused a 5-mile backup on the Garden State Parkway during the morning commute Tuesday, New Jersey State Police said.

The crash happened at 6:41 a.m. near milepost 92.3 northbound in Brick, State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said.

He said the preliminary information on the crash was two Jeeps were involved. The people who had been in the Jeeps suffered minor injuries and were out of the vehicles by the time state police arrived, Curry said.

He did not have specifics on how many people were in the vehicles.

The crash was cleared by 7:40 a.m. and the road was fully reopened shortly after 8 a.m., Curry said. Traffic was backed up for 5 miles into Toms River, but the backup had cleared by 8:40 a.m.
