$21K In Cash, 1,000 Heroin Doses Seized In Brick Home: Police

Police said the seizure came after a lengthy investigation into drug activity in the area.

BRICK, NJ — Police seized more than $21,000 in cash and more than 1,000 doses of heroin from a Brick Township residence following what police said was a lengthy investigation into heroin distribution in the area.

Lisa Sorice, 53, of Brick, was arrested Oct. 25 at her Laurel Brook Drive after authorities executed a search warrant, Patrolman Keith Donnelly said Tuesday.

The Brick Police Drug Enforcement Unit found 1,050 doses of heroin with several different branding stamps, and packaging material, all consistent with drug distribution, he said. Also seized was $21,675 in cash that is now pending forfeiture proceedings.

Sorice has been charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

A second woman, Donna Brown, 55, of Toms River, arrived at the home while authorities were conducting the search. She was arrested in connection with numerous outstanding warrants. Donnelly did not release specifics about the warrants. Brown was not listed in the Ocean County Jail inmates listing.

Donnelly reminded residents to contact police when they see suspicious or suspected drug activity.

"These tips are an important step in initiating or developing a case against suspects involved in the possession, use and distribution of illegal substances," he said.

He also reminded residents that several police departments in Ocean County offer assistance in obtaining treatment for individuals suffering from an addiction to heroin and opioids through the Blue HART program.

"The goal of this program is to provide drug treatment at no cost and with no questions," he said. Click here for details.
