4 Candidates Seek Seats On Brick School Board

Two seats are up for election in November for the Brick Township Board of Education.

BRICK, NJ — Four people have filed petitions seeking election to the Brick Township Board of Education in 2023.

Two seats are up for election on the November ballot. Each seat is a three-year term. School board members do not receive a salary to serve.

The candidates for Brick's seats are incumbents Alison Kennedy and Michael Blandina, Mike Mesmer and Gregory J. Cohen.

Blandina, running on the slogan "Brick First," is seeking re-election to his second term. He is a Brick Township High School graduate and has long been involved in Brick Township community activities.

Kennedy, running on the slogan "Children First, Always," is seeking her first full term on the board; she was appointed in September 2022 to finish the term of Missy Parker, who resigned when she moved out of state. She had been a PTA president in the district before joining the board.

Mesmer and Cohen are running under the slogan "Our Children First." Mesmer is a Brick Memorial graduate and senior manager with Bracco, an imaging diagnostics health care corporation. Cohen is the owner of Gregory J. Cohen Insurance.
