UPDATE: 40 Dogs Rescued From 'Deplorable' Conditions Reportedly Responding Well
Organizations say animals received medical care after they were found in an Ocean County house where the front door was blocked by feces.
Rescue groups continue to care for 40 dogs who were found abandoned in a New Jersey home late last week.
Husky House, a dog rescue in Matawan that was involved in the rescue, has been posting updates on its Facebook page on the dogs, said the dogs were shaved to remove matting and were receiving medical care.
The dogs were split up among several groups in addition to Husky House, including the Ocean County Animal Facility in Jackson, Eleventh Hour Rescue, Popcorn Park Zoo, and Seer Farms, the Asbury Park Press reported.

The dogs were found inside a Lakewood home that was “covered in feces and urine,” according to reports, and hazmat crews even found dogs living in the wall of the building, Husky House told News 12.
“I’ve never been in a situation that was this bad,” Husky House president Lorraine Healy told The Asbury Park Press. “There was not an inch of anything that was saturated and soaked in urine and feces. These dogs came out of there, and we were shaving dogs down last night until 3 o’clock in the morning.”

Dozens of Golden retrievers and Australian shepherd-border collies mixes were trapped inside the home, because the front door was blocked by piles of feces, according to the Press report. The Press report also said neighbors had called and complained about the number of dogs in the home a few weeks before the discovery.
On its Facebook page, Popcorn Park said its staffers joined several others and “suited up in hazmat gear to enter the home where these poor creatures were living in the most hideous, horrid conditions. Feces covered the homes floors, walls and ceilings, along with garbage, and chewed up wood and sheetrock. The dogs were literally chewing through the walls to get from room to room. A woman was renting the home from a Lakewood property owner, and authorities are dealing with her, and the cruelty and neglect that she inflicted upon these dogs.”
“The home is now condemned and boarded up, and all dogs have been brought to various shelters and rescues throughout the state. We took five of the dogs at Popcorn Park, and are just so glad that we are able to help these desperate souls in their time of need,” the post said.
The Husky House said it is accepting any and all donations, and that cleaning supplies, blankets, gift cards, etc. are “desperately needed. The group has set up an Amazon Wish List and a GoFundMe account. All donations can be sent to 391 Route 34, Matawan, NJ 07747.
Popcorn Park officials said those who wish to donate to help the dogs it took in can give to its Res-Q Fund.
Seer Farms officials said on Facebook the four dogs it received are responding well after being bathed and shaved. Donations to them can be made here.
Eleventh Hour Rescue in Rockaway also assisted with the dogs and posted a number of photos of the house and the dogs on its Facebook page.
