500 Bags Of Heroin, Stolen Gun Recovered During Minivan Stop
The Ocean County man is charged with distribution as well as possession, police said.

An Ocean County man is facing weapons and drug charges after a stolen handgun and nearly 500 baggies of heroin were found in a minivan taxi during a motor vehicle stop in Howell.
Amir Reid, 22, of Lakewood, was driving the minivan taxi on Route 9 when Howell police pulled the vehicle over about 1 p.m., Howell Police Chief Andrew Kudrick said.
During the course of the stop, they found Reid was in possession of a loaded, stolen .40 caliber Glock handgun, nearly 500 decks of heroin, marijuana, needles and a large sum of cash, Kudrick said.

Reid was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of heroin, distribution of heroin, possession of a handgun while committing a drug offense, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia, he said.
Howell Municipal Court Judge Susan Schroeder-Clark set bail at $100,000, which Reid has since posted, according to jail records.

“The Howell Police are committed and dedicated to keeping our community safe. Individuals who chose to behave such as this by engaging in such repulsive behavior will be vigorously sought after, apprehended, and prosecuted. We will not allow criminals to soil our community,” the chief said.
