6 Teens Arrested In Brick Stabbing Of Pizza Deliveryman: Police

One is 18; the remainder are unnamed juveniles from Brick and Lakewood, police said.

BRICK, NJ -- An 18-year-old Brick man and five juveniles have been arrested in the stabbing of a pizza deliveryman that happened April 2 in the Herbertsville section of town, Brick police said Wednesday.

Kareem L. Johnson, 18, of Sawmill Road, has been charged with robbery, Brick Capt. Vincent Pacitti said. Three juveniles from Brick and one from Lakewood were charged with robbery, Pacitti said, while the sixth person, a juvenile from Lakewood, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The charges stem from an incident April 2 in the area of Creek Road, Pacitti said. Police were called to the area about 9 p.m. for a report that a Domino's Pizza delivery driver had been stabbed. The driver told police that as he returned to his car after finishing a delivery, he was surrounded by several individuals, Pacitti said.

The individuals demanded the driver give him all the money he had, and when the driver refused to comply, he told police, he was spit on, punched in the face and stabbed in the lower left abdomen with a sharp object, Pacitti said.

The subjects then fled to the Sawmill apartment complex, toward Herbertsville Road, Pacitti said the driver told police.

Detective Timothy McCarthy responded and began the investigation, Pacitti said, and over the next several weeks, numerous leads were investigated, ultimately leading to the arrests.

Johnson, whom police identified as a black male, was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, and has since posted bail, which Judge Robert Lepore set at $25,000 with a 10 percent option, Pacitti said.

All five juveniles were lodged in the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center, Pacitti said. McCarthy was assisted in the investigation by Detective Brian Ulman and Officer Mark Storch, he said.
