BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police announced eight more arrests on drug charges, the most recent update of work by the department's Street Crimes Unit.
The unit, formed in November following a shooting incident near Brick Memorial in October, has announced more than two dozen arrests as it cracks down on any suspicious activity at known hotspots in the township.
The latest arrests, from Feb. 13 through March 7, led to the seizure of heroin, cocaine and marijuana, Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

On Feb. 13, Nicholas Toto, 28, of Pleasantville, and Piotr Korytkowski, 37, of Staten Island, were arrested about 6:20 p.m. in the parking lot of Leonard Perry Motors, 945 Cedar Bridge Ave. Detectives saw the two sitting in a vehicle, and after they spoke with the two men, learned the vehicle was not registered and had a fictitious license plate. In addition, they could smell the odor of raw marijuana, which led to a search of the vehicle. During the search unspecified amounts of marijuana, heroin, and cocaine were found, along with packaging materials.
Toto was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia and taken to the Ocean County Jail; he was later released to await trial.

Korytkowski was charged with possession of CDS (heroin), possession of CDS (cocaine), possession of CDS paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringe and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. He was released on a summons, Kelly said.
On Feb. 27, Wilfredo Acevedo, 39, of Tuckerton, and Jeffrey Hernandez, 41, of Brick, were arrested after detectives saw a drug transaction in a vehicle in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 856 Route 70 (on the corner with Chambers Bridge Road). When detectives approached, Acevedo was trying to get out of the car. The detectives identified themselves as police officers and Hernandez, who was driving, backed up to try to leave, nearly hitting an officer in the process. Hernandez was arrested in the parking lot of Joe Canal's, and a search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and packaging materials, Kelly said. Acevedo was arrested after a foot chase and a search found him in possession of marijuana. Patrolman Scott Smith and Brick Police K-9 Echo assisted with a sniff of the vehicle.

Detectives saw two men, later identified as Spencer and Ritorto, sitting in a parked vehicle. Ritorto, the passenger, got out of the vehicle and approached the third man, Woltmann. Ritorto then got back in the vehicle and it left at a high rate of speed, with Ritorto and Spencer throwing debris from the vehicle, Kelly said.
The vehicle was pulled over at that point and Smith and K-9 Echo arrived, and Echo gave a positive indication for drugs, which led to a search that turned up numerous cell phones, and unspecified amounts of cocaine and heroin that were packaged for sale. Detectives then found Woltmann, who was found to be in possession of cocaine, heroin and CDS paraphernalia. In addition to the cocaine and heroin, $805 in cash, the vehicle, and drug paraphernalia were seized, Kelly said.
Spencer was charged with three counts of possession of CDS, manufacturing and distributing heroin and cocaine, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, careless driving and throwing debris from a motor vehicle. Diaz, who was sitting in the back seat, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe, Kelly said. Diaz was found to have smoked crack cocaine at the Brick Motor Inn prior to the motor vehicle stop and additionally was charged with being under the influence of CDS.
