More than 80 in New Jersey have been ranked among the "most dangerous small towns" in America. You won't believe who made the list.

Seaside Heights is one of the most dangerous small towns in America?
And Ocean City, too?
You probably won’t believe who else fell on this list.

The Roadsnacks website, a data compiler that specializes in creating lists that rate communities on how ”snobby” or “redneck” they are, went there, compiled a list that rates the “most dangerous small towns in America.”
And a number of N.J. towns made the list - with Wildwood finishing 7th, and Roadsnacks saying that the community is “a major tourist draw, making the crime numbers stand out like a sore thumb.”

Indeed, three towns - and four out of the top 5 - that made the top 100 were all from the Jersey Shore. Somehow, and inconceivably, these towns were ranked as more dangerous than some of New Jersey’s most crime-ridden towns, such as Atlantic City and Irvington.
Roadsnacks.net, which recently provided a list ofN.J. Towns with the highest rate of Ashley Madison ”cheaters,” has compiled a list of the most ”dangerous” towns using the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, which summarizes the number of property crimes and violent crimes in each city per year. Violent crimes were defined as rapes, murders, robberies and aggravated assaults.
The Roadsnacks people looked at towns that have populations less than 50,000 as of 2014, saying that was the last year the crime report was available.
“We must note that this report is not an analysis of the effectiveness of local police departments,” the site says. “It simply states where crimes occurred most frequently.”
The site ranked 6,858 towns; we compiled the list of N.J. towns that fell in the top half. Read Roadsnacks.net’s full methodology here.
