Dozens Remain Without Power In Brick After Fierce Storm
Trees and power lines were down across Ocean County in the wake of fierce thunderstorms that moved across New Jersey.

BRICK, NJ — Efforts to restore power to homes and businesses in Brick were continuing Thursday, after a fierce storm swept through Ocean County, taking down trees and power lines across the area.
About 50 homes remained without electricity as of 5 a.m. Thursday according to the Jersey Central Power & Light outage website. Service was expected to be restored by 5 p.m. Friday.
At one point, 9,800 homes in Brick, and more than 48,000 JCP&L customers in Ocean County were without electrical service, as Wednesday's storm took down dozens of trees and wires.

Immediately after the storm, Brick Township firefighters and police responded to a report of a kayaker in distress in Kettle Creek off Shore Acres Yacht Club. Police said the person made it to shore safely by the time authorities arrived.
