8th Avenue Beach Erosion Monitored In Brick
The erosion that has caused a steep cliff is being monitored and access remains restricted for an undetermined length of time.

BRICK, NJ — A beach access closure in the Normandy Beach section is the result of a rip current that carved the beach, Brick officials said Thursday.
The access at 8th Avenue will remain closed for an undetermined length of time, officials have said.
"We found out about the erosion on Wednesday," Brick Township Mayor John G. Ducey said Thursday, adding that the town was alerted by a phone call to the recreation department from a resident who said it looked dangerous.

Ducey said township engineer Elissa Commins had been out to the site and examined the erosion, and said while it is significant it was not getting worse either north or south of the immediate area.
Possible solutions are still being considered, Ducey said, but putting down sand to fill out the beach isn't an option right now because the winds and the rip current would wash any new sand away immediately.
