After Luxury Vehicle Thefts Along Route 35, Lock Up: Brick Police
A Range Rover was stolen Sunday from the Mantoloking Shores area, leading to a police chase; there have been other thefts.

BRICK, NJ — The theft of a Range Rover from a Mantoloking Shores home led to a police chase on Sunday and prompted another reminder from Brick Township police to lock vehicles after several luxury vehicles have been stolen.
The police chase happened Sunday when a beige 2019 Range Rover was reported stolen from a Dutchman’s Point Drive home, Brick Capt. Keith Reinhard said.
A Brick police officer saw the Range Rover headed west on Mantoloking Road and turned around and tried to stop it, but the Range Rover took off, he said. Several officers pursued the vehicle but broke off the chase when the driver headed onto the Garden State Parkway.

Reinhard said there have been a number of luxury vehicles stolen from driveways along Route 35, and not just in Brick.
"They have been stolen both during the daytime hours and overnight," he said. "The suspects are targeting cars with the key/fobs left inside of them. They can easily identify those vehicles that have the keys/fobs left inside."

Brick police have repeatedly urged residents to make sure they lock their vehicles, and Reinhard reiterated that point.
"We have been notifying residents via social media, Nixle and personal contact to make sure they lock their vehicles at all times and bring their keys/fobs inside of their residence, don’t leave them in their vehicles," Reinhard said. "Additionally, it is also recommended that they lock their homes as well."
Anyone with information or who sees any suspicious activity should call police right away either by calling 911, or by calling the police department directly at 732-262-1100.
