📰 News we're reading

• Brick Man Planted Bomb At St. Patrick's Day Parade, Prosecutor Says (patch.com) — Brick residents are learning that a 56-year-old man from the township, who works as a fire safety and environmental compliance officer at Brookdale Community College, is accused of planting a suspicious device at a Keansburg St. Patrick’s Day parade he later reported to police. Authorities say Brick Township police helped investigate, leading to charges including false public alarm and possession of a destructive device, with the man now held in Monmouth County jail.

• New Jersey Lottery: Winning Tickets sold in Bridgeton and Brick (wobm.com) — A Brick resident just scored a $1 million prize from a New Jersey Lottery scratch-off bought at the Wawa on Route 88, putting Ocean County in the winner’s circle. Smaller wins also hit Bridgeton, Belford, and Whiting, but Brick’s jackpot is the standout. If you grabbed a ticket there recently, it might be worth a double-check.

• Jefferson, NJ man dies in driveway after being pinned under car (wearenewjersey.com) — A recent fatal accident in Jefferson is drawing attention to a similar tragedy in Brick Township, where a man died in January after being pinned under a vehicle in a Lagoon Drive West driveway. The article recounts what police found at the Brick home, shares background from the victim’s obituary, and briefly notes upcoming St. Patrick’s Day parades around New Jersey.
