No Left Turn Means No, So Don't Do It, Brick Police Say

Barriers and signs have not been deterring people from trying to turn left at one dangerous spot in Brick, police say.

Bollards have been installed to stop people from turning left onto Beaverson Boulevard going east. Some drivers are ignoring them, police say. (Brick Township Police)

BRICK, NJ — The signs are there. The bollards are, too.

Despite barriers and warnings, however, drivers keep trying to turn left coming out of the Lions Head Office Park onto Beaverson Boulevard going east.

It's creating "a dangerous situation for everyone on the road,: Brick Township police said in a notice on the department's Facebook page.

The yellow bollards along the middle of Beaverson Boulevard were installed recently by the Ocean County Roads Department in an effort to reduce the number of crashes, which are frequent along Beaverson Boulevard, Brick police said.

"These barriers are in place for your safety and must be obeyed," police said.

To drive the message home, Brick police will be actively monitoring the area and issuing traffic tickets for improper turning to those who try to make the illegal left turn anyway, police said.

An improper turning violation carries 2 points on your license along with fines.

"Please follow all posted traffic controls and help keep our roadways safe," Brick police said.
