JACKSON, NJ — A building inspector who was on duty died Thursday when his SUV hit a tree in Jackson, police said.
Ronald Miller, who worked for Jackson Township, was driving a 2013 Jeep Patriot owned by Jackson south on South Cooksbridge Road when it left the road and hit several items before coming to a stop against a large maple tree near Westlake Boulevard just before 2 p.m., police said.
People performed CPR on Miller at the scene of the crash while emergency services were en route, police said, and he was taken by the Jackson First Aid Squad to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, police said.
