Brick Schools Principal Aims To Bring Academic Excellence To New Role

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township School District has named a new director of planning, research and evaluation.

David Kasyan, who has been principal of Brick Township High School since July 2021, will oversee the district's strategic planning, program evaluation, and data initiatives, the district said.

The district called Kasyan "a dynamic educational leader" who has extensive experience in building culture and academic achievement.

"During his tenure leading both Brick Township High School and previously Emma Havens Young Elementary School, he established a proven track record of driving success through collaborative, high-standard learning environments," the district said.

"In his new role, Dr. Kasyan will leverage his expertise in collecting and aggregating assessment data, a skill he refined while facilitating building-level Professional Learning Communities and performing district-wide audits of the Intervention and Referral Services process," the district said. "His background in analyzing complex data sets, including PARCC and student achievement metrics, will be instrumental in his role of evaluating district programs and planning for future growth."

"We, in Brick Schools, take great pride in building leadership capacity from within," Superintendent Thomas Farrell said. "It's important that we cultivate and promote organizational leaders who understand our culture and core values."

Farrell said Kasyan has repeatedly "proven that he is a visionary and strategic administrator who always puts students first."

"He understands our learning community thoroughly, and I am confident that we will continue to grow and improve with him in this new Central Office role," Farrell said.

Kasyan has received numerous accolades. He received the New Jersey PTA Outstanding Principal Award in 2021 and was selected for the NJ Leadership to White House Advocacy Group in 2025. He also serves as the executive board secretary for the Foundation for Education Administration Board of Trustees and is a member of the Regional Educational Laboratory Mid-Atlantic Governing Board.

Kasyan's appointment was approved at the July 28 Brick Township Board of Education meeting. He takes over the position as of Oct. 5 and will receive a salary of $189,000, an increase over his principal's salary of $179,911.
