Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Trunks Wanted For Brick's Trunk Or Treat Event (patch.com) — Brick families are invited to a festive Trunk or Treat at Drum Point Sports Complex on Thursday, Oct. 22, where decorated vehicles will hand out candy to local children. The Brick Township Recreation Department is seeking residents, businesses, and organizations to bring creatively decorated trunks and participate in this popular annual community event that draws hundreds of families.
2. Stacy Grace McFeeley (starnewsgroup.com) — Brick residents are mourning 41‑year‑old Stacy Grace McFeeley, a Brick Memorial High School graduate, Coast Guard veteran, and devoted mother of two who died unexpectedly on October 4. Visitation is Saturday, October 10, from noon to 2 p.m. at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home on Mantoloking Road in Brick, followed by a funeral service and suggested memorial donations to the Jersey Shore Animal Center.
3. Nor'easter Wedding Leaves Brick Couple With Beautiful Memories (patch.com) — A Brick couple's long-planned Highlands wedding went ahead despite a nor'easter that flooded their Sea Bright hotel and forced last‑minute changes to lodging and parties. They credit flexible vendors, helpful friends, and a focus on what mattered—celebrating with loved ones—for turning a stressful weekend into joyful memories and advice for other local brides and grooms.
4. New grocery planned for Toms River Center where Foodtown closed (app.com) — Brick shoppers may soon see a familiar discount grocer expand nearby, as Lidl plans a new store in Toms River Center on Route 37, adding to its existing Brick location. The chain, known for low prices and rotating weekly deals, is taking over part of the plaza that lost its Foodtown in 2015, bringing another grocery option to the Route 37 corridor.
5. Plea Talks Ongoing In Fatal Ocean County Boat Crash (jerseyshoreonline.com) — A fatal Barnegat Bay boat crash case with ties to Brick is moving toward a possible plea deal, as attorneys met in Ocean County Superior Court this week. One victim died after being taken to Ocean University Medical Center in Brick, while others suffered serious injuries, and prosecutors say the boat operator was allegedly intoxicated when he struck a channel marker near the Route 37 bridge.
