BRICK, NJ — A heavy police presence at three schools in Brick Township on Tuesday was the result of what police say was a swatting call.
The suspicious call was one of several received in multiple towns on Tuesday, Acting Police Chief Henry Drew said.
The call was made to the Goddard School on Drum Point Road, Drew confirmed, and the school sheltered in place, according to a message to school families that was shared on social media.
Brick police "provided an increased presence near the school and other nearby schools," the department said.
The Goddard School is next to Emma Havens Young Elementary and Drum Point Elementary schools.
"Officers remained on scene during dismissal, which took place without incident," the police department said. "The call was assessed and it was later determined not to be credible."
Howell Township and Wall Township schools also were subjected to swatting calls, police in those towns said, among others.
