Investigators have determined the murder took place in an Ocean Township residence, Webster said. He did not give any indication of Villani's motive or how detectives were able to identify him in connection with the murder.

The charges are a result of a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Wall Township, Absury Park and Ocean Township police departments after Patel was found dead in Shark River Park on Wednesday. A Monmouth County park ranger who was collecting litter in the area discovered Patel's body along the side of Gully Road, down a slight slope, he said.

Patel had been reported missing to the Asbury Park Police Department by a friend on Feb. 9 and a black Jaguar he had been driving before he disappeared was discovered abandoned on an Asbury Park street on that same day, Webster said.

Despite the arrest, Webster said the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Patel is ongoing.
