Assisted Living Facility Fire Displaces 50 Residents In Jackson: Police
Permanent housing is being sought for more than 50 people evacuated from the building, police said.

JACKSON, NJ — More than 50 people have been displaced after a fire Sunday morning damaged the Bella Terra assisted living facility, Jackson police said.
The 7:15 a.m. fire damaged one building at the complex at 2 Kathleen Dr., Jackson Capt. Steven Laskiewicz said, which occurred on the third floor of the building and was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system, he said.
Fire personnel confirmed the fire was out, Laskiewicz said.

More than 100 people were initially evacuated, according to a report by the Asbury Park Press. Laskiewicz said more than 50 have been displaced, with 33 in a temporary shelter at Jackson Liberty High School and another 26 people transported from the scene by family members.
Forty-four rooms were evacuated, Laskiewicz said. No injuries were reported, he said.

"Bella Terra staff is working on a long-term solution to rehouse residents from Building D," he said.
Jackson firefighters received assistance from firefighters in Howell Stations 19-3 and 19-5, and Lakewood Station 65, Laskiewicz said.
Also responding were officials with Jackson's Office of Emergency Management and Building Department; the Ocean County Fire Marshal and Ocean County Fire Coordinators; the Jackson Township Police Department; the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department; the Ocean County EMS coordinator; Quality Medical; Jackson First Aid; Howell First Aid; Lakewood First Aid; Allentown First Aid; Ramtown First Aid; Farmingdale First Aid; Roosevelt First Aid; Millstone First Aid; Brick Police EMS Mass Casualty Response Unit; Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office EMS Staff; New Jersey EMS Task Force; Monmouth County Medical Ambulance Bus #6 from Keyport First Aid; Monmouth County Medical Ambulance Bus #2 from Shark River Hills First Aid; Special Operations Vehicle- Central.
Laskiewicz said investigators remained on the scene Sunday afternoon, but said, "The incident does not appear suspicious at this time."
