BB Gun, Masks, Drugs Seized, 2 Arrested In Brick Bust: Police

BRICK, NJ — Authorities seized drugs, a BB gun and black masks and arrested two men after pulling over a work truck during an investigation, Brick police announced.

Police pulled over the work truck with Florida license plates for motor vehicle violations on Dec. 18, as officers of the Street Crimes Unit were conducting investigative operations within the Maple Leaf Condominium Complex, Brick Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

There were two men in the truck, driver Gillispie Sumpter, 40, of Brick, and the front-seat passenger, Matthew Tenner, 31, of Lakewood.

Police investigating during the stop found more than 30 wax folds of heroin, a unspecified quantity of MDMA (Ecstasy), cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a black BB gun pistol and two black ski masks, Kelly said.

Officers found Sumpter wanted on $2,000 worth of warrants out of Brick and East Brunswick.

Sumpter and Tenner both were charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

In addition to those charges, Sumpter was charged with possession of MDMA and possession of a handgun, and Tenner was charged with the possession of cocaine.

Both Sumpter and Tenner were lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
