Beach Days For All Bringing Better Access To Brick Beach 3

The nonprofit works to help those with disabilities to get to the water's edge with wheelchairs and mats.

BRICK, NJ — An organization that works to improve access to the beach for those with disabilities has partnered with Brick Township to bring its access to Brick Beach 3.

Beach Days For All is raising funds to install mats at Brick Beach 3 that allow those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility to more easily get to the water.

Beach Days for All, which formed in 2017, has worked with several other towns at the Jersey Shore to install the mats that go to about 40 feet from the water's edge.

The effort to connect with Brick Township started in late 2024 when Jessica Krill, president of Beach Days For All, and Robyn Grayer, who on the board, attended a township council meeting to advocate for installing a mat.

The council responded enthusiastically, Krill said, but nothing could be done in 2025 because of the Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment project.

The group was notified earlier this year that the project could move forward, and they have been fundraising ever since.

"We are beyond excited to partner with a town that truly understands the value of accessible, welcoming beaches for everyone," she said. "This collaboration marks a significant step forward in ensuring inclusion and accessibility for all community members. #InclusionMatters"

The mission is personal for Krill, who has two adult special needs children.

"Our local beach communities have made great strides in creating opportunities for people for disabilities, but for most beach towns access ends where the sand begins," Krill said. "At Beach Days for All, it is our dream that one day there will be at least one handicap accessible beach in each town along the coast."

Mats are available at Presidents Avenue in Lavallette; at Maryland Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach; Shark River in Neptune; and in Seaside Park at F Street, Funtown Beach and at Stockton Avenue and the Boardwalk.

The group is seeking sponsors and accepts donations via Zelle and Venmo, according to its website.

There also is a fundraiser set for May 17 at Mantoloking Road Alehouse. The Summer Kickoff Benefit Concert is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is set to feature music by Temporary Grace. Donations are $25 and include a commemorative cup and one drink voucher. Food and drink will also be available for purchase and a percentage of the event proceeds will be donated to support Beach Days for All.
