Beach And Surf Report: August 17, 2015
Sunny skies, low rip current risk, air quality advisory issued.

Another near-perfect late August beach day is on the way.
The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with highs in the mid-80s. Beach winds will be from the southwest to the south at around 10 miles per hour.
Waves will range from two to three feet, with east swells of around three feet. The surf temperature is 75 degrees.

The rip current risk is low, but strong rips can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas. Swim only in guarded areas and ask guards about any threats in the surf zone.
The UVI index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality advisory until midnight. That means air quality in the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
High tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 10:14 a.m. Low tide will occur at 4:21 p.m.
