Beach And Surf Report: August 20, 2015

Chance of thunderstorms, moderate rip of risk currents forecast.

The string of pristine beach days over the past week is coming to an end.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies, a chance of thunderstorms and a slight chance of showers. Temperatures will be in the low 80s.

Beach winds will be from the southeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Waves will be around three feet, with east swells of two feet. The surf temperature is 75 degrees.

There’s a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind or wave conditions support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Swim only in guarded areas and always have a flotation device with you in the water.

The UVI index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high.

The lightning threat for today is low, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms.
