Beach And Surf Report: August 25, 2015

Partly sunny skies, moderate rip current risk forecast for today.

Beach visitors can expect partly sunny skies today, although there’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

The highs will be in the mid-80s, with beach winds from the southwest at 10 miles per hour.

Wave will be around three feet, with east swells around two feet. The surf temperature is 75 degrees. There’s a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind or wave conditions support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Swim only in guarded areas and always have a flotation device with you in the water.

The UVI index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high. The lightning threat is low, which means there is little change of thunderstorms.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 10:23 a.m. High tide will occur at 4:36 p.m.
