Beach And Surf Report: August 29, 2015

Sunny skies, moderate risk of rip currents forecast for today.

It’s the last weekend before the Labor Day holiday. So avoid the crowds and head for the beach today.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with a high around 80 degrees. Beach winds will be from the west at five miles per hour, becoming southerly in the afternoon.

Waves will be around three feet, with southeast swells around two feet. The surf temperature is 74 degrees.

There’s a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind and/or wave conditions may support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Always swim in guarded areas and have a flotation device with you in the water.

The UVI index is a 7, which the NWS considers high. There is no lightning threat today.
High tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 7:46 a.m. Low tide will occur at 2:11 pm.
