The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies and a moderate risk of rip currents on Ocean County beaches today.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 80s, with southwest beach winds of around 15 miles per hour this afternoon. Waves will be around three feet, with a southeast swell of two feet. The UVI index is an 8, which the National Weather Service considers very high.
A moderate rip current risk means wind and wave conditions support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Swim only in guarded areas and always have a floatation device with you, the NWS advises.
High tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 10:40 a.m. Low tide will be at 5:03 p.m.
