Beach And Surf Report: August 31, 2015

Partly sunny skies, moderate risk of rip currents forecast for today.

Lifeguards in Ocean County made a number of water rescues over the weekend, mostly due to rip currents or people swimming on unguarded beaches.

The National Weather Service is calling for partly sunny skies with a high in the mid-80s. Beach winds will be from the southwest from 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Waves will be around three feet, with southeast swells around two feet. The surf temperature is 75 degrees.

There’s a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind or wave conditions support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Always swim in guarded areas and have a flotation device with you.

The UVI index is a 7, which the NWS considers high. There is no lightning threat for today.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 9:26 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 3:55 p.m.
