Beach And Surf Report: August 4, 2015

Mostly sunny, heavy surf, moderate rip current risk forecast for today.

The National Weather service is calling for mostly sunny skies, with scattered showers and thunderstorms sometime this afternoon.

Temperatures will again be in the upper 80s. Expect southwest beach winds from 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Waves will be four to five feet, with southeast swells from two to four feet. The surf temperture is 76 degrees. There is a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind or wave conditions support strong or more frequent rip currents. Swim only in guarded areas with a flotation device, the NWS says.

There is a moderate lightning threat today, since thunderstorms are possible.
High tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 11:35 a.m. Low tide will happen at 6:01 p.m.
