Beach And Surf Report: July 12, 2015

Sunny skies, low rip current risk.

A perfect beach day.

The National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies with a high of around 80, and northeast winds at 5 miles per hour.

The ocean will also cooperate, with waves of around two feet and a water temperature of 74 degrees. The rip current risk today is low, but strong currents may still occur near piers and jetties, especially during the low tide cycle.

“Swim in areas where lifeguards are present and talk with them about any hazards in the surf zone,“ the NWS says.

Don’t forget your sunblock. The UV index is a 9, which the weather service rates ”very high.”

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will be at 4:48 p.m. Low tide this evening will be at 11:30 p.m.
