Beach And Surf Report: July 20, 2015

National Weather Service calling for highs in the upper 80s, low risk of rip currents.

Looking for some relief from the sweltering temperatures?

Then head out to the beach today. The National Weather Service is calling for partly sunny skies with temperatures in the high 80s. There’s a chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms.

Beach winds will be from west to southwest at five to 10 miles per hour. Expect waves of two to three feet, with a southeast swell of around two feet.

Water temperatures will be in the mid 70s. There’s a low risk of rip currents, but strong currents can still occur near piers and jetties, especially during the lower tide cycles.


“Swim in areas where lifeguards are present and talk with them about any hazards in the surf zone,” the NWS says.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 11:33 a.m. Low tide is at 5:32 p.m.
