Beach And Surf Report: July 27, 2015

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, rip current risk increases.

The recent string of beautiful beach days is over, at least for today.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies, with scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.

Temperatures will be in the lower 80s, with beach winds between five to 10 miles per hour. Waves will be around three feet, with a southeast swell of around two feet. The surf temperature is 75 degrees.

There’s a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind or wave conditions support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Swimmers are advised to swim only in guarded areas and a floatation device with them, the NWS says.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 10:53 a.m. High tide will occur at 5:10 p.m.
