Beach And Surf Report: September 1, 2015
Sunny skies, low rip current risk, Code Orange air quality alert issued.

It’s a well-kept secret among Ocean County residents. September is the best month for the beach.
The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with a high in the mid-80s. Beach winds will be from the north around five miles per hour, becoming east in the afternoon.
Waves will be two to three feet, with south swells around two feet. The surf temperature is 75 degrees.

There’s a low risk of rip currents forecast for today. But strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and elsewhere, especially during the low tide cycle.
The UVI index is a 7, which the NWS considers high. There is no lightning threat.
High tide at Barnegat Inlet will be at 10:17 a.m. Low tide will occur at 4:48 p.m.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange air quality alert for today. That means
air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for sensitive groups like children, people with asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases.
