We reported Monday on one donut shop that was named the best in New Jersey by The Daily Meal website, and our readers responded enthusiastically.

That place, Uncle Dood's Donuts in Toms River, sells "a few more than a hundred" hot, hand-dipped doughnuts — with toppings like bacon, peanut butter and jelly, or even Fruity Pebbles cereal — on any given day."

But there are plenty of other donut shops that deserve recognition for their uniqueness, creativity and, of course, taste. So we've decided to look into some more acclaimed donut shops across the Garden State.

Below are several lists put together by websites that compile lists that show the best of everything - and plenty of New Jerseyans care deeply about their donuts.

2. OB-CO's Donuts (Facebook/Ob-Co Donuts) "The Tom's River donut shop won a 2015 Excellence Award from Trip Advisor."
3. Jack's Donuts (Facebook/JacksDonuts/David Thornell) "Jack's Donuts in Laurel Grove offers a sizable selection of flavors including Sour Cream.
4. Donut Connection (Yelp/Mel P./Dom G.). "Donut Connection is a chain, though Cape May is currently its only New Jersey location."
5. Shore Good Donuts (Facebook/ShoreGoodDonuts) "This Ship Bottom donut shop is one of the best in the USA, according to Grub Street."
6. B&W (Facebook/B&W Bakery) "People line up around the block for B&W baked goods. The jelly donuts are award-winning!"
7. Broad Street Dough Co. (Facebook/BroadStreetDoughCo) "This Oakhurst donut shop has barely been open a year but it has made quite an impression."
