Black Poster Project Memorial To Addiction's Toll Coming To Brick
A memorial to those who have lost the battle with addiction aims to humanize those who died; it will be on display at Brick Memorial.

BRICK, NJ — For the third year, Brick Township will host the Black Poster Project, a mobile memorial to those who have lost their lives to addiction.
The Black Poster Project includes hundreds of posters of people who have died in a presentation called Silent Memorials, with each person's story included with their photo. People can walk through the display at their own pace reading the stories of each person.
"Attendees to the display are invited to look at the faces, look into their eyes, read their stories — as each will 'speak back,' " the organization says. "Perhaps there may be a familiar face? Undoubtedly people ask themselves, 'How this could have happened to this baseball player, this musician, this father, this mother?' Rest assured, the bereaved families ask themselves the same questions."

The Brick Police Department will be on hand with its mobile medication drop box, where residents can discard unused and unneeded medications, and there will be community groups dedicated to public health and safety.
"Come out and dispose of your unused medication. Pay respect to those who've lost loved ones to this awful disease. Remember those who you may have lost to an overdose," the police department said.
