
The Brick Board of Education has set aside $800,000 for the replacement of the outdoor bleachers at . The decision was made at the Dec. 7 workshop meeting of the board.
Board President Sharon Kight said after a presentation at the meeting, the board decided to dedicate $800,000 to the project, though the final bill may be less expensive, since the price of labor may have dropped since estimates were last sought by school officials.
The money dedicated the project should cover the cost of construction, as well as materials, architectural work and other needs associated with the project, Kight said.

"It's been a hazard for years," Kight said of the bleachers, adding that she pushed for a replacement project during her previous stint on the board.
Portions of the bleachers were blocked off during this fall's football season due to concerns that they were unsafe. Additional seats had to be borrowed from the township at times. Brick Township High School also holds its annual graduation ceremony outdoors, and if the bleachers were not replaced, Kight said the ceremony would have to be held across town at .

"At this point, we want to get it done," Kight said.
