Water Main That Flooded Burnt Tavern Road Repaired
The break occurred in the area where construction to reconfigure the traffic pattern is underway.

UPDATE, 4:10 p.m.: A water main break has been repaired, but Burnt Tavern Road remains closed in the area of the break, Brick Township police said Friday afternoon.
The break occurred in the general area where an Ocean County Roads Department project is reconfiguring the roads to improve traffic flow in the area of exit 91 on the Garden State Parkway.
PREVIOUSLY: A water main break has resulted in a road closure and left a number of homes with low or no water pressure in the northern part of Brick Township, police said.

The break, in the area of Burnt Tavern Road and Herborn Avenue, from Herborn to Neil Avenue, has left Burnt Tavern impassable west of the Garden State Parkway, Sgt. Larry Petrola said.
“Detours have been set up. Please use caution and expect delays,” he said.

The break also means there may be low water pressure or no water at all to homes in the area. It is unknown how long homes might be without water, he said.
“Take proper precaution and prepare yourself with bottled water due to the lack of water,” Petrola said.
