Brick Accepting Applicants For Police Explorers

If your teen is considering a law enforcement career, the program can help them see if it's for them.

If your teen is thinking about a career in law enforcement, the Police Explorers may be a good place to start.

The Brick Township Police Department announced it will be conducting a Police Explorer Academy for interested and qualified youth candidates and it is seeking new members for Police Explorer Post 230, according to a news release from the department.

Applicants must be 15 to 20 years old or have graduated 8th grade. The deadline for applications is Sept. 30.

Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program sponsored by a local law enforcement agency. The purpose is to help young men and women get an inside look at the field and make an educated and informed decision about a career in law enforcement, according to the release.

Members of Explorer Post 230 receive hands-on training in many areas of law enforcement including, but not limited to:

  • Criminal Law
  • Self Defense
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Accident Investigations
  • Physical Training
  • Crime Scene Investigations
  • Domestic Violence Intervention

Interested candidates can pick up an application in the department’s Community Policing Office Monday through Friday during business hours. Applications will be available until Sept. 28 and are due Sept. 30.
