Brick Beaches Closed, Coastal Areas Off Limits Due To Storm

Residents are also advised to relocate any outdoor items or properly secure them to prevent loss or damage.

Brick Township beaches are closed and coastal areas are off limits, township officials announced Friday.

“The coastline continues to present a significant hazard as a nor’easter passes through and Hurricane Joaquin churns its way north in the Atlantic Ocean. Sections of the revetment wall engineered to prevent wave impact on the barrier island and along the route 35 corridor are exposed, presenting a significant hazard,” the township said in an announcement.

Fencing that had been installed along certain sections of the wall have been removed to prevent it from becoming a safety hazard due to the anticipated high winds, according to the township.

“The worst of the Nor’easter is expected to impact the region this evening into Saturday morning, with some magnitude of the hurricane/tropical weather expected offshore Sunday into Monday. Residents should make emergency plans and preparations, including maintaining a supply of water, food, medication, flashlights, blankets and personal care items,” the township announced.
