Brick Beaches Now Without Lifeguards; Caution Urged For Swimmers
The beaches are closed, Brick officials said, and the surf has been rough and dangerous with rip currents in recent days

BRICK, NJ — If you are planning to go to the beach in Brick now that it's "locals summer," Brick Township police are asking you to exercise caution if you go in the water: the lifeguards are no longer on duty.
Brick Township officials said the beaches are technically closed, but acknowledged that people still go: "Please exercise extreme caution if visiting the beach.," the township said in a post on its Facebook page. The posting followed a Nixle alert from the police department urging people to be cautious.
Officials said the surf conditions have been extremely rough with dangerous rip currents in recent days, and put even the strongest swimmers at risk for drowning.
