Brick Board Approves New Athletic Director, Transportation Director

The board approved the two with little comment.

The Brick Township Board of Education got down to business with new member Vito Gagliardi Sr. seated Wednesday night, approving the interim superintendent’s recommendations for athletic director and head of the transportation department.

Edward Sarluca, who has been a physical education teacher and a coach in the Brick schools for 16 years, was promoted to athletic director at Brick Memorial High School and Veterans Memorial Middle School, effective Oct. 1, to replace retiring athletic director Bill Bruno.

Sarluca, 40, is a 1993 graduate of Brick Memorial and holds a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Elon University and a master’s degree in administration and leadership from the University of Scranton. He has been the head coach of the boys basketball team since 2006.
