Brick Coronavirus Death Total Released By Ocean County
Ocean County health officials released town-by-town figures for the number of residents who have died from complications of the virus.
BRICK, NJ — As the number of cases of the new coronavirus rose past 5,200 in Ocean County, county health officials began releasing total deaths in the county due to complications from the virus.
In Brick, 43 residents have died from the virus, according to the figures released by the Ocean County Health Department website. There have been 650 people in the township who have tested positive for the virus, according the figures that were as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the county.
On Wednesday afternoon, state officials announced there have been 5,234 people in Ocean County who have tested positive; of those, 270 residents have died since the first case was reported in the county on March 11.

County health officials said they will be publishing information on how many people have recovered from the virus as soon as they get additional guidance from state health officials.

In addition to the breakdown of deaths by town, the expanded reporting includes a breakdown by age group, countywide, of the number of deaths and the number of those who have tested positive for the virus.
While the data shows what has been seen elsewhere, that people age 65 or older are at higher risk of dying from the illness, those under 65 are not completely spared. There were six people in Ocean County ages 19 to 44 who have died, and 40 people ages 45 to 64.
Sixty-seven percent of the positive tests in Ocean County were among people ages 19 to 64.
Of the deaths in Brick, 16 are among residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities. The state released updated figures for coronavirus cases among long-term facilities on Wednesday. Read more: NJ Coronavirus Updates: Here's What You Need To Know
State Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli has said the facilities self-report their information to the state, and discrepancies in the reporting have been found across the state. Most notably, the Andover nursing and long-term care facility where 17 bodies were found stacked in a makeshift morgue has reported fewer than 50 deaths to the state, but there have been nearly 68 deaths linked to the facility.
In Brick the following facilities have reported cases of the coronavirus. The information available from the state does not break down how many are patients and how many are staff.

- Complete Care at Shorrock Gardens, 36 positives, 6 deaths
- Willow Springs Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, 33 positives, 2 deaths
- Alcoeur Gardens at Brick, 12 positives, 2 deaths
- Complete Care at Laurelton, 12 positives, no deaths
- Brandywine Living at the Gables, 4 positives, no deaths
- The Chelsea at Brick, 4 positives, no deaths
- Artis at Brick, 3 positives, no deaths
