Brick Council Set To Honor Retiring Police Chief Bergquist

The police chief announced his retirement Sept. 30; the council meeting is Monday night.

The Brick Township Council meeting Monday night will be packed with well-wishers as the town gives Police Chief Nils R. ”Rick” Bergquist a formal send-off.

Bergquist is retiring effective Dec. 1 after 39 years in law enforcement, including 35 in the Brick Township Police Department. He announced the decision in a post on the police department’s Facebook page Sept. 30.

Bergquist, who was promoted to chief in 2008, praised the officers whom he has overseen as well as the town.
