Brick Council Sets Up Phone-In Meeting Amid Coronavirus

With residents and nonessential workers ordered to stay at home, the council is providing a way for people to participate in the meeting.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Council will meet Tuesday as scheduled, and residents who want to participate or just listen can call into the meeting, the township announced.

The council is providing the call-in option so residents can participate remotely while complying with Gov. Phil Murphy's order for people to stay home amid the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

The council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and includes the formal introduction of the town's 2020 budget. The agenda for the meeting is here.

Residents who want to listen in or participate in the meeting can call 214-459-3653; the passcode is 712853416# and residents should mute their phones until they are speaking.

As of Monday afternoon, there were 2,844 positive tests for COVID-19 in New Jersey, and 27 people have died from it, according to the state health department. There have been 149 positive tests in Ocean County so far as of Monday, according to the Ocean County Health Department, including five cases in Brick. One county resident, a man in his 70s, has died of the virus.
